Mary Ann Sanders Elementary School in Sylvan, California was constructed to be a completely daylighted educational facility. All classrooms, the library and the multi-purpose room (gymnasium) utilize the Sunoptics Daylighting System. This school is designed to eliminate 85% of all electric lighting during daylight hours, with an average lighting level of 50 foot candles. Daylight fills the space of this facility with natural light that has been proven to increase student performance, decrease absenteeism, decrease energy and positively affect the environment.
