When Lowe's home improvement stores made the decision to explore full facility daylighting for their stores, they turned to Sunoptics high performance prismatic skylights for their high performance daylighting initiatives at their Indian Trail, North Carolina high efficiency store. Lowe's has used partial daylighting in their garden centers for a number of years, however they were still apprehensive at fully utilizing the passive solar power of daylighting due to concerns about heat transfer and even heat loss through the penetration. However, after implementation, Lowe's has realized that the returns in energy efficiency, even in winter months in North Carolina, were higher then they even expected.
